Airlines charge for space, not just weight. A big light box takes the same space as a small heavy box.
The formula
Volumetric weight (kg) = L × W × H (cm) / divisor. We use divisor 5000 for standard services and 6000 for economy.
Chargeable weight
We charge on the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight.
Example
A 60×40×40 cm box weighing 8 kg has volumetric weight = 60×40×40/5000 = 19.2 kg. Chargeable weight = 19.2 kg.
Save money
- Pack denser — fill empty space with laundry or textiles.
- Choose economy for boxy items — divisor 6000 lowers volumetric weight.
- Split into two smaller boxes if the original is oversized.
